Message Therapy Treatments
"The practice of Massage Therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of
physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical
function, or relieve pain." (MTA, 1991)
In my practice, each treatment is individualized to your needs on the day of your appointment and may vary each session.
We will discuss your health, why are you coming for massage therapy, how you are physically feeling, what your activities of
daily living are and what we are able to do to achieve your treatment goals - everything to ensure we treat safely.
Treatment can be done clothed (bring movable clothing with you) and/or draped with sheets/blanket/towels, whichever style makes you feel
comfortable and safe. A range of techniques and pressure can be used during your session, if you do not like something, please speak up.
I can always stop/modify what I am doing, so long as it is safe for both of us. I also have a table warmer, heating pad, silicone cupping
and paraffin wax hydrotherapy at no extra cost to you. Let's discuss what works best for you. Massage therapy is not for everyone and that is okay.
All initial appointments will include a confidential intake/health history, assessment & discussion on homecare, which can take anywhere from 10-20+ min,
depending on your history, health concerns and goals. It is recommended to book 60 min. for your first visit. Please bring a list of your medications,
your health insurance benefit card, and come early to fill out any necessary paperwork or fill it in electronically prior to coming, so we can start your
appointment on time.
All subsequent appointments will include intake, assessment, treatment, and discussion of treatment plan, as well, to see what is working and what is not.
We will reassess along the way or create new treatment plans as needed. Treatments can be 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min or 90 min.
Shorter treatments are best suited for singular issues (headaches, TMJ, one body joint involved) and younger children.
If you have multiple areas to treat, longer appointments are recommended; not all areas may be covered in one single session.
